Gender Differences in Subjective Well-Being in and out of Management Positions

This study is done in Germany to understand the gender differences on management positions which included family care-er, professional and non-professional job. The result is not very surprising where you can find at the bottom of this post, but it may help you to think about your family system. We need bread-winning and caring to make our family works properly. In a nuclear family, maybe we don't have much choice, usually parents need to work outside. Maid become the key care-er for those family, but the maid may not able to integrate the family culture easily. Getting the extended family support seems a way out.

A lot of families shared that they can access a lot of resources when the extended family got involved in the way that works for both sides, they mainly need to take care of the intergeneration relationship and in-law issue which could be very frusting sometimes.

It can be learnt and improved with certain understanding and preparation!

Our results indicated that a clear hierarchy exists for men in term of how status within the labour market was associated with subjective life satisfaction. Unemployed men were the least satisfied, followed by men who were not in the labour market, while men in leadership positions reported the highest level of subjective life satisfaction. For women, no statistically significant differences were observed among women in high-level managerial positions, women who worked in non-high-level positions, and women who specialized in household production, with no market work. Only women who were unemployed reported lower levels of life satisfaction, compared with women in other labour-market statuses.
